But that has all been changed thanks to the internet which allows information to be shared and gathered at the speed of light (or as fast as the connection speed is of your provider). People can now be asked to gather information, do the research and submit their work without having to leave their chairs at home. This has also become a norm due to the fact that there are a lot of talented people out there who due to family matters are forced to stay at home and take care of their kids. Telecommuting eliminates the need to leave home and gives them the flexibility to manage their own time at home while still getting to care for their families.
